P604JBU is a Volvo B10BLE with a Northern Counties Paladin LF (low floor) body, a design which quickly became the Plaxton Prestige low floor design. Five of these B10BLEs received this body and were delivered to Stagecoach in March 1997 (which by this time had taken over GM Buses South).

604 had moved to the Stagecoach Cambridge operation Cambus after a relatively brief spell on the streets of Manchester and became their No 304. With the other four Paladin LF BLEs she worked on Cambridge park and ride services.

In 2002 the five Paladin LFs moved to the north east. The national fleet number 21604 was allocated in 2003. As 21604 she finished her days at the Stagecoach Stockton-on-Tees depot, ultimately being part of the reserve fleet from early 2013 but in practice being used on a daily basis until November that year.

As a rare example of the coming together of this body / chassis/ operator Wigan Transport Trust member Nick began arrangements to acquire her for the WTT collection. She was collected from Stockton-on-Tees dept on 07 March 2014 and driven to the WTT site, a 150-odd mile journey during which she performed faultlessly (as long as you don’t count the minor airbag issues…)
